چکیده

Electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD) was prepared by using gas diffusion electrode (GDE) instead of traditional hydrogen evolution cathode. Sulfate acid’s effects on the cell voltage, the current efficiency, the electro-catalytic activity and the lifetime of GDE are studied. The results show that as the concentration of sulfuric acid increases, the current efficiency increases, while the cell voltage and the lifetime of GDE decreases. When the concentration of sulfuric acid is 20-40 g·dm-3, the cell voltage is 1.1-1.2 V and the current efficiency is more than 99 %. When the concentration of sulfuric acid is 30 g·dm-3, the GDE has the best electro-catalytic activity, meanwhile the cell voltage maintains at 1.6 V after EMD is deposited on anode, and the lifetime of GDE reaches 400 h. XRD patterns show that all of the electrolytic products belong to γ-MnO2 in different sulfuric acid concentration. Copyright © 2014 IFSA Publishing, S. L.

An Investigate on Power, Torque and Exhaust Gas Emission Variation: Effect of Hydroxy Gas Addition to Inlet Air of a SI Engine

Hydrogen has been known as a clean and suitable fuel to replace conventional fossil fuels. One of the common hydrogen production methods is using water electrolysis process. This method produces oxygen as well as hydrogen by ratio of 1:2. The aim of this work is to investigate the effects of inlet air enrichment by adding produced hydrogen and oxygen to an internal combustion engine. For this p...

Investigation of vessels pressure effect on PEM electrolyzer performance by using a new OneDimensional Dynamic Model

In recent years energy shortage and environmental impacts due to consuming fossil fuels have led to developing renewable energy sources systems. Since these sources are not reliable and are usually time dependent, an energy storing system like hydrogen production is required. In this regard, PEM electrolyzer can be efficiently used to decompose liquid water into hydrogen and oxygen. Because of ...

Enhancement of waste activated sludge anaerobic digestion by a novel chemical free acid/alkaline pretreatment using electrolysis.

Anaerobic digestion of waste activated sludge (WAS) is relatively poor due to hydrolysis limitations. Acid and alkaline pretreatments are effective in enhancing hydrolysis leading to higher methane yields. However, chemical costs often prohibit full-scale application. In this study, 12 V two-chamber electrolysis using an anion exchange membrane alters sludge pH without chemical dosing. pH dropp...
